After You’ve Done all to Stand…Keep Standing!

Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Consider the following adversaries…
- Principalities
- Powers
- Rulers of the Darkness of this World
- Spiritual Wickedness in High Places
What should be our reaction to these kinds of adversaries?
- Refusing to be Ignorant of the Wiles of the enemy!
- Equipping ourselves with the full armor of God as recommended by the above scripture.
- Maintaining our Stand in Christ and reminding God of His promises and walking in complete redemption by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
- Praying Always (All manners of prayer and supplication in the Spirit)
- Being Vigilant and Determined to overcome any opposition by the enemy.
Matthew 4:1
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
1 Kings 19:1-4
1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
It is not uncommon for the enemy to wage war against you immediately after a glorious event in your life. If it could happen to our Lord Jesus Christ and to Elijah and other great men and women of God, then it could definitely happen to you. You only need to be prepared and Trust in God who is bigger than any principality or any powers that be!
We must determine to do the following…
- Grow in our fellowship and relationship with each other.
- Some of us do not have a relationship with members of our depts., or even participate actively in a cell group; some prefer to live their lives in isolation.
- A lack of fellowship with other believer’s is one major thing that can weaken our faith and zeal for the Lord and the things of God. We were not designed to exist without each other.
Grow in our fellowship and relationship with God
1 Sam 2:16 26: “And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.”
The Prayer-thon ended about 2 weeks ago and a lot has already started to happen in the lives of you and me.
- For some there has been an increased zeal and hunger for the things of God.
- Some on the other hand have become overwhelmed with issues of life and are already questioning God and are in doubt.
- Some may have envisaged the way their situation should turn out to be by now and are discouraged that nothing has happened yet.
- Some may still be basking on the glory of the prayer-thon and the prayers that they prayed during the prayer-thon; however they have not prayed or even attended the service regularly since then.
Let us not loose Faith, rather let us be true to ourselves, God is a good God, but He cannot be untrue to Himself.
Beloved, work relentlessly to overcome every situation that comes your way, do not give up, don’t throw in the towel. You’re closer now than when you just started. Do not fail to take hold of all that Christ has already purchased for you, be diligent in your ways, don’t be distracted by the events taking place around you or by the trials in your life, they are working together for your good. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, He will come through for you, and after you’ve done all to stand…keep standing!
Isaiah 40:28-31
28Have you never heard or understood? Don’t you know that the LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. 29He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. 30Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. 31But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Song
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Refrain
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
Refrain
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
